Day 4 –

Whew – this is getting real. I started the day being greeted by two donut boxes ensuring me that I do in fact deserve a donut. Well, not today donut box, not today!

How was Day 4?It was alright. I only drank two cups of black coffee to get through work today. I felt great most of the morning, but around 11 AM that hangover I kept hearing about kicked in. Headache, fatigue, fuzziness, lazy. It lasted all afternoon until after dinner.
What do you wish you had for dinner?Fried Shrimp po-boy. I enjoyed the avocado salad we had for dinner, but would have loved to have some cheese on it!
Any frugal wins today?I did some price comparison for my upcoming Professional Engineer exam study guides. Found a way to save about $200 on the necessary books. We went and tried a new free workout! It was a free running group that meets up once a week at a local track. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the free beer after the run.

Day 3

First working day of Whole30. Thankfully no cupcakes in the break room, but I did miss out on Mexican food for the new intern’s first day.  How did the mister’s day go? See his afternoon update below. He later reported he needed three cups of coffee to make it through the work day (with no cream)    😦

I’m right there with him though, and thirsty, SO thirsty.  Why am I so thirsty? I couldn’t get enough to eat or drink today. Despite our hunger, tiredness, and thirst we both made it to workout after work.  We enjoyed a night off of cooking while eating leftovers.

I reviewed the Whole30 Timeline today – it appears as if we made it through “the hangover” stay tuned for “Kill all the things” for days 4-5.

Day 2

A lazy Sunday at home was perfect for Day 2. We relaxed at home and did some meal prep for the week. P smoked an amazing pulled pork that we plan to use for a few different recipes this week. We finished our show on Netflix and even got all the laundry washed and folded! 🙂

How are you feeling today?Good. I feel pretty great today!
Biggest Temptation?I’m in desperate need of haircut. I have been eyeing a fancy men’s only hair salon. Luckily they were closed, or I might have ended up spending $40 on what I usually pay $15 for and couldn’t have even enjoyed the free beer. Being home, I find it impossible not to snack. I went searching for my favorite pita chips, but instead I had a handful of cashews!
Any financial wins or savings? No, but I reviewed locations and quantities of our excess cash and developed an investment plan for it. Not particularly, but reviewing last months expenses together was a great reminder of our need for a reset.
Favorite meal?Dinner- Pulled pork with mashed sweet potatoes and pickles. I’m really excited about the breakfast I prepped for the week!

Can’t wait to eat left overs tomorrow!
